How to care for a chemical toilet in a camper? Complete guide
A portable toilet is an important piece of equipment. To keep it working reliably, it is worth following a few simple rules.
1. Use dedicated chemicals for the lower waste tank
Ordinary detergents or bleaches can damage seals and do not break down waste. Trusted products like Toilet Blue Weekender have been developed specifically for portable toilets.
2. Follow the dosage
The recommended dose is 100 ml per cycle (up to 3 days). For longer stays, increase the dose proportionally.
3. Empty the tank regularly
Even if the liquid is still active, the tank should be emptied every 2-3 days. This prevents unpleasant odours and tank overloading.
4. Rinse the tank after each emptying
Use clean water. This prevents sediment build-up and keeps the tank in good condition.
5. Store chemicals at the right temperature
Store portable toilet chemicals in a dry place, away from frost and direct sunlight (storage temperature: +5°C to +30°C).
